A P.S. of Ray’s in 2005
I was thinking that a “P.S.” is like saying, “We have something more we’d like to say.” We’ve added these to our Renewal Ministries letters for 25 years; that’s a lot of “P.S.’s”!
This month I want to add this to our letter; I have another thing to say…another “P.S.”
When I went into the Navy in World War II, I said goodbye to my mother and dad and two brothers and two sisters. As I sat alone on the bus on my way to the Great Lakes Training Center I wasn’t sure I’d ever see them again, and I had something more I so much ached to say to them - - a “P.S.,” like, “I love you, and I thank you for all your love to me, and all your care of me these nineteen years.” So I wrote a letter that was really my “P.S.”
There are people to whom you need to write a “P.S.” Paul the apostle wrote a few. To the Philippians he wrote, “Finally, my brothers…” (3:1) and told them not to forget to rejoice continually. A chapter and a half later he wrote another “finally, brothers…” (4:4) and reminded them to control their thought life before the Lord. Two “P.S.’s”! And to the Romans he wrote four benedictions (15:5, 13, 33, and 16:20). Each time he had something more he had to say.
Anne and I have one more thing to say to you. Thank you for praying, for caring, for loving the Lord and loving us because we love Him, too. Sometimes you’ve sent your own “P.S.’s” along with a gift. Thank you for being our friends. You honor us and lift our spirits.
P.P.S. We send our love.
P.P.P.S. The grace and love of God be yours.
